Moulded Screen Technology

Axiom Group has developed a technology for moulding one-piece, 300 (and lower) micron mesh screens with accompanied cup in circle shape embedded in a circular frame. All this was done on a conventional precision injection-moulding machine, the technology was developed to balance the pressure and minimize overflow.

With a successful launch of this screen technology, last year the company decided to start a project to develop a process in order to design and build one-piece moulded filter and screen technology for specific automotive air intake filters.

The company’s strategy in selecting the technology to be developed was sparked from interest by DaimlerChrysler after seeing our one-piece moulded screen technology. The competitive advantage expected is lower cost on assemblies. Results of patent searches on the subject show that the smallest micro screen made in a one-piece injection moulding process was 300 microns, in which Axiom has matches.
